I've always had a come-along type winch and even used my hi-lift as a winch before, and they will work in a pinch if you just need a budge. I've never used the mentioned ARB hand winch, but unless you're wheeling an ATV I wouldn't bank on using one for a serious recovery. If you're on a budget...
