    Where it started

A few might remember the photo I shot of our families Jeeps for our son that joined the Army. We got to head to Georgia this week for his boot camp graduation ceremony. After the ceremony, we had the pleasure of touring the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning. Really cool museum. While...

What was done to your rig this week?

Had a buddy come over and help get my tire carrier installed today. Still waiting for the parts to hook up the winch to it, shop said that would be ready next week.

    Sons request

So our oldest is in boot camp for the Army (couldn't be prouder) he got to call home the other night and had a request. He wanted a family Jeep picture. Well, what kind of dad would i be if I didn't honor his request. Managed to get my father and sister over to take a picture of all of the...

    Slabs and stock tires

They are 17x9. The build sheet says the factory wheels are 17x7.5. Really don't have a problem waiting although I do believe walking across the living room now and then they are secretly taunting me. Only complaint I had was out of 5 wheels, I got 1 valve stem and 2 hex wrenches to remove...

    Slabs and stock tires

Tried finding an answer but seems I cant find it or not bright enough to search correctly. Anyway, picked up a set of slabs and I only have 14k or so on the factory 255/75/17 tires. Would these tires be ok to mount on the slabs? If it's going to look goofy/odd/whatever, I will wait since I'm...

    Upgrade speakers with a cage?

Factory sound system is Ok, but have thought about upgrading. Only problem is I have the rock hard cage installed. My concern is the lower front speakers. With the side cage pieces, there is no side access. Is it possible to pull them out any other way? Just afraid the cage will have to be...

    Bump stop question

While looking over the Jeep tonight I noticed that the bumper on my front shocks were not solid but damn near all the way down. This got the wheels spinning and wondered if I am in danger of damaging my shocks. Please bear with me as I try to explain everything I measured. (Was a fire marshal...

The quick reference guide shows a Restore setting. First 3 dips switches are down, rest are up.

Body mount tire carrier and winch

Somewhere back I read an article in a magazine about how they mounted a winch on a body mounted tire carrier. Can't seem to remember where I found it or find the article. With my back the way it is, this is something that I am looking at for future mods. Bear with me as this may get a little...

Torque Wrench - Is it trashed now?

Yep, if I remember correctly, it was older Fords, the left side lugs were left hand thread, the right side had right hand threads. Worked in a tire shop long time ago and had a couple kids had no idea why they couldn't get the wheels off. We used the same torque wrench to tighten them as other...

RECOVERY GEAR : A Must Have Before Hitting the Trails

Have a couple noob questions. Back a ways, it was mentioned to criss cross the rope while winding it on the winch (after the first layer). Is that only for synthetic rope or wire too? Hopefully will be getting a winch before long. I know it has to be wound under a load. Most likely will be...

What was done to your rig this week?

Decided it was time to change the look of the front end. Chopped the bumper off and re-used the factory ends. Didn't have any door trim around so for now used some split loom for wiring to cover up the cut ends. Next thinking about chopping the fenders but cant really afford the 35's yet...
