    Tire options

Toyo MT's are one of the toughest I have seen or used. They are heavy but this translates into thick side walls as was mentioned. I have a set of 35' which never let me down which gave me confidence buying a 40" version. For aggresive looks the Nito Mud Grappler. Here are my Toyo's.

VIDEO : The ULTIMATE Pinstriping Machine

Awesome video Eddie! Good for you not being afraid to explore a narrow trail. Paint scratches can be fixed, which is why I prefer Bedliner over paint. Here is a short clip from about 5 years ago. Note: The owner of the 200 acre property was inside my Jeep and any trees that were cut along the...

    Show your Knives!

I'll add some close ups later. My brother traveled across Europe and visited many factories. He brought back some models I wanted. Lion Steel in Italy, Puma in Germany and the list goes on.

    Selecting a Mig welder.

I was wondering if anyone could point out some examples of popular Mig welder models used in shops to weld brackets/cages etc. Thanks.

    Let's talk "Stingers".

I notice most manufactures don't offer high stingers (far over the hood). Those of you that wheel and experince narly ledges, slopes etc. Do you feel a tall stinger could prevent an endo or further damage during a role over ? I'm not refering to physical appearance but the safety aspect. For...

    Rust treatment recommendations

Thanks guys! I have learned so many lessons. The key is to prevent rust in the first place. You do NOT want to have to do this, it was a lot of work. Anyone have experience with bedliners ? Tree Frog, you mentioned one ? Was is Monster liner ? I used EZ Liner but it cracked and flaked so...

    Rust treatment recommendations

1- Remove as much rust scale as possible using wire wheels etc. 2 - Use POR-15 Metal prep to neutralize the rust 3 - Use POR-15 Marine Clean 4 - Paint on POR-15 (a couple coats) or Chassis Saver 5 - Put on your favorite Bedliner, 2 coats ( I used the POR-15 Brand) 6 - Use Formula 3000 on...

What's in your Jeep tool kit?

When I put the Jeep back together I will make a detailed tool list and post it here. Of course we all have different mods but we can all tweak our own list. I was surprised to see how few tools it took, one could definitely save some weight by being selective. Great thread !

Removing Rust from Hardware For this I am using a product called Metal Rescue. I picked this up at my local store saving some shipping. There is around 50 bags of labeled hardware, all must be cleaned. After using a wire brush and a rag I feel the product did a great job. I let the parts...

Draining fluids & splitting the Transmission & Transfer Case I rolled into the empty stall and am ready to drain all the fluids. I removed the engine with tranny attached, although it went well if I were to do it again I would separate it first to make an easier lift. The hoist can...

Ripping apart the Dana 44's From here it was time to get the chassis out of it's current location and into the next stall (under the body). I'm doing this to have room to work on everything else until I need to cut off the control arm mounts on the frame. I need to gather any parts that I...

Upgrading to the next level RDE2ROK

I just read your whole thread from post #1. Fantastic effort here! You have created something special, you must be proud. A couple questions: Do you have any idea what your entire weight is right now ? You mention you still have the 3.8, are you finding there is plenty of torque for...

    Cordless Impact Gun?

As a mechanic I switched over to cordless. Milwaukee m18 Fuel - 1/2" , 1/4" and grinder. Dewalt 20v max - 3/8 inch, work light and drill. They are very tough. If you have giant hands I would go with Dewalt for everything, but my hands are kinda big. I say this because the selector switch...

Part 7 - Painting It is time to coat the frame with POR-15. This product will prevent rust and encapsulate the surface, not allowing oxygen to get at it. I decided to do my first coat with the color/shade grey. This makes for an easier second coat. This stuff dries rock hard. Take note, you...
