Watcha cookin'?

I love my weber genesis grill. But I find myself using my traeger more and more for both smoking and grilling. If I had to choose one, it would be the traeger.
My father in law is pretty good at it. He does the classic way, wood in the side mounted fire box. Is that hiw the traeger works? Or is it more like the pellet/chip style?

So in a few weeks, we will be moving into the new house and im goig to start fresh on the grill-ware. Im gonna take a stab at getting into the smoking game....any recommendations on a newb-proof smoker?

I ripped the bandaid when I bought my house 2 years ago and got a Big Green Egg (large). I can honestly say it has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. The dealer I got it from has had his for 23 years and still running strong. It will be the last grill I ever buy.

A traeger is an outdoor oven. They put out very good food but it pretty much cooks itself. I'm all stick burner, all the time. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1463968336.898223.jpg

I just dont feel like i know enough about them to make an educated decision lol

I started with a propane smoker about 6 years ago. Good learning experience and very inexpensive. I believe I got a dented one at Home Depot for 60 bucks. Ruined tons of food before I got the hang of it.

Haha. Sounds like a good starting price point, minus the ruined meat of course

My Sis has a Big Green Egg and I need one. It is really good....I use it every chance I can.

Cinnamon rolls in a can, individually stuffed inside cored out oranges, then roasted over an open fire

Thirded...

One of my favorite purchases ever was a large Big Green Egg.

A family hit! Hanger steak, asparagus and artichoke heart, sun dried tomato and peas orzo, with white wine and butter.

This is what's for dinner.

Oh man...nothing like a good ole fashioned Nawlins crawfish boil...I still have some Zatarains's seasoning in my pantry.

Since I'm a die hard Raiders fan, and catch one game every year, I've circled the Raiders/Saints game this year in the Superdome...and getting me some mud bugs while I'm there (not to mention fishing for red fish & speckled trout)...
