No Rear Bumper?

I saw this idea from a guy over at JKF. Just a piece of sheet metal bent over the rear crossmember and painted. Looks pretty good IMO.

^^^^that looks good. makes it look finished but still minimal. i wish evo made a plate like this with thier logo or something stamped or cut into it to compliment their d-ring sets.

I'm sure I'm biased but, I still prefer the no bumper look. Pretty much all of EVO's stuff is all about function over form and really, there is no function for something like this. But hey, that's just me.

i kinda left out my point...lol i was thinking this may deter the boys in blue for those concerned since it gave it a finshed look. almost looks legit.

Looks like he gave himself a way to mount some rear LEDs? I like the way Moby/CAT have the RIs mounted, but the plate "may" protect them a little more? Not sure I like the squared off look though.

I like the reverse lights. :thumb: Those seem functional. ;)

Yeah, but so are these...

And, I bet I put out a ton more light :D

I agree that would be the only purpose of doing this. It's aesthetic not functional.

the hitch and dually's really make the no bumper look even better.

do u have any reverse lights for driving around town, as in when u drop it in reverse? i have been curious since with my new evo build i will have new led tail lights for the new skins but i dont think im gonna have any normal operating back up lights. i am curious if that has been an issue for u or not. thanks

I haven't done it but there are a lot of other guys who've hard wired their lights to work with reverse engaged and separately as well.

ok, so u are talking about using the rigid's for normal backup lights? drivers will def know when u are about to reverse...lol
maybe i will borrow your idea...lol the 40" rigid mentioned previously may be a touch excessive for my grocery getter...:cheesy:

LOL!! Oh yeah, they'll know you're backing up. I suck at wiring so for now, I just have mine attached to a switch and turn it on when backing up. It's not that big of a deal for me but, if I can ever figure out how to do it right, may hook it up so that it works automatically and manually like I've seen others do in the past.

that would be a choice setup. i wired in some small leds on my poison spyder bumper to the reverse circuit, but setting up dually's to work both ways is a bit more complicated. if nothing else though, flicking em on for backing in busy areas would suffice. thanks. i sold that bumper and will now be bumperless with evo d-rings. fyi my rig is getting chopped up at evo right now....dropped it off yesterday:wings:

I smell a write up. :thumb:

Have you seen the Dually's with the diffused lens in action? I was thinking that might work pretty good for the reverse lights. A little more civil for around town and perhaps avoiding being #11 on the asshole list.

I run a single SRM diffused for my reverse, tied into the reverse light wiring so it comes on automagically. It's plenty bright.

Like I said before, I suck when it comes to wiring or, at least with all the new computer controlled crap that only works if you have a certain amount of current. Is there much to hooking up it up to the reverse lights or is it just a matter of splicing it in to the existing wiring?

u know its not bad but

not bad but it still looks like a cheap bumper ! im wondering if you could argue the fact that the plastic was removed but not the actual structure of the bumper? and as for something sticking out sharp edges those are closed in with the evo d rings set up ? not sure how id find out or who yould ask regarding it . its not like registry of motor vehicles would answer you straight they are there to deter us from modifications
