My wife decided on these the ROCK HARD 4X4 PATRIOT SERIES TUBE SLIDER ROCKER GUARDS - FLAT STEP. Very well built and easy easy install. About 20 minutes per side.

It appears so. They don't fasten to the frame but they hook into the body mounts and the pinch seam. It really seems like they would handle a good hit.
