Rear fender chop w/ inner fenders?

I did the front fender chop with Artec front inner fender liners on my JTR. I'm planning on doing the rear fender chop. But, thinking of not running inner fenders.. Have some of you done this? How bad if the fuel filler neck and evap stuff exposed? Thanks in advance!

I've done it and it's totally fine without liners.

Oh, and I painted the inside black.
