I used to take my Series 3 Land Rover to the beach all the time in Hawaii...until the frame rusted out all over...
You should try driving down a road in Michigan during the winter after they turn the streets in to an nice 50/50 blend of salt and half melted snow….

I will say that I am impressed on the newer vehicles how well the paint holds up to salt and how little rust appears on the vehicles today
