    Creede to Ouray to Moab

Then Cinnamon, Corkscrew and California Passes and the kale at the end of Poughkeepsie Gulch. I didn't do Poughkeepsie Gulch this time as there was a log jam of trucks at the wall and it was likely muddy making it very difficult and I wanted to do Black Bear and Ophir Passes before heading to...

    Creede to Ouray to Moab

The weather was getting worse. I wanted to do Black Bear, but that's a no go when wet. So went to Mineral Creek (western part of Engineers Pass) Got to this old mining building I took a picture of my new Xterra, so tried the same picture with the new Jeep, about 22 years and lots of...

    Creede to Ouray to Moab

Took a trip over Labor Day weekend to run a few trails. The original plan was to meet two other rigs in Creede, CO and travel Stony Pass to Silverton. The other 2 couldn't make it last minute, so I went by myself. Traveled from Denver to Lake City and over Slumgullion Pass. The Matterhorn...

    Power Tools

I only had Ryobi. It is ok for what I did. When I 1st tried installing my lift, I tried removing the 1st LCA bolt and couldn't get it to budge. Home Depot had a deal going on with Milwaukee. Buy a 2 m18 battery kit for $299 and get a free tool. I picked the compact 1/2 compact, initially...

    Old but new tires

When i worked at Pep Boys, they would not install tires older than 5 years regardless of tire condition. The Firestone shop across the street had the same policy. Likely most chain shops gave the same policy. Independent installers may install based on tire condition. I did have 10 year old...

NO TAGS - Is it Just Me?

The point was that those who can't afford the $75 registration or paying more than a few hundred for a clunker would pay $700+ per year for the most basic of insurance. So don't expect them to register or care. If it matters so much, the government needs to enforce laws or enact new laws to...

NO TAGS - Is it Just Me?

Probably a unpopular take, but why must we title and register cars in the 1st place? Then wear a name tag everywhere? Tax the fuel properly to pay for the roads. Property/ownership should NEVER be taxed, because if it is, you don't own anything, just renting from our overlords. But on...

Why Jeep May Never be Great Again

I just saw a video them, I have zero desire to hot rod the Jeep. This is the 1st normally aspirated vehicle I've had in 20 years. The Xterra had a SC, the 350z had a turbo, the WRX has a turbo. Nice to run the cheap gas for the jeep.

The Things I learned This Week

Not sure i would ever take mine off here in Colorado. Every wheeling trip i take, it never fails to storm sometime during the day regardless of the forcast. The onetouch roof is as close to topless i would go.

EVO Enforcer 2.5" lift questions on JL

It would be more than the 1/2" settlement. Looking for a bit more height and travel. So, with the EVO lift kit, just confirming changing the springs is all that really is needed. Not sure why different bump stops would be needed.

    OLM mirror lense replacements

So I picked these up, and they improve visibility a lot both on & offroad. I didn't have to adjust them between highway and offroad. The plugs for the BSM must have changed since OLM started making them. No big deal, just cut off the plugs and spliced them.

EVO Enforcer 2.5" lift questions on JL

The never ending J.E.E.P. journey. After the 37s, I think I want a bit more lift as it has settled about a 1/2". Looking at the EVO parts list, it looks like all that is needed is the longer springs, bump stops, and the rear track bar bracket or adjustable track bar to go from the 2.5" to...
