392 problems

I’ve been in Baja about 7 weeks now and the jeep was running great. About 2 weeks ago I went to start the jeep and it cranked really slow like it had a dead battery. The battery was fine. Moved to the starter and found a burnt wire so had it fixed. Still no start. After trying to get a starter which I couldn’t find one that wasn’t 10 days away started looking for other problems. Found that the ground was broken on the block. I fixed it and it fired right up with no problems. After about 2 miles of driving the alternator started whining really loud. Long story short it has some kind of major electrical problem and is now at the dealer in Cabo San Lucas with a fried alternator and who knows what else. Have to fly home tomorrow to work a little bit and hopefully that can fix it within a couple week.

The other country would bother me I’m guessing Baja Mexico ? the chief of police is liable to be driving a new 392 by the time you get back .

sorry to hear this. At least it’s getting sorted out early, I guess. Yea this guy may be up to something. He looks a little concerned. A4C9D98F-F0F7-4A5C-9F44-D0D8DD99A73D.jpeg

I have full coverage in Mexico so it will be ok. I trust it 100% though. I wouldn’t leave it if it was in mainland Mexico.

Any weird weather like lightning that may be the cause? I see things like this happen a lot on RVs after a lightning strike where multiple items stop working at once along with burnt wires.
