Diff locker question on necessity.

...the Jeep systems engineers turn it off in 4lo because by definition you should never been in 4lo on a normal roadway which is when you need traction control...
Sometimes, you want traction control off-road. Having the BDS when getting a tire in the air with open diffs or LSD in 4lo could be quite handy.

BLD (brake lock differential) is on ALL THE TIME. - for exactly the reason you mentioned - a tire in the air with open diffs

ABS (antilock brakes) and ESC (electronic stability control) are turned off when in 4lo in a jeep.

Note - BLD uses the individual wheel speed sensors plus the ABS software to determine that a wheel is spinning and will brake JUST that wheel.

Like anything else on a Jeep, not a necessity, until it is.

Like insurance, better to have it and never need it, than to need it and not having it.
